Solar Scott (solarscott.co.uk) is a lead generation service that connects UK homeowners with MCS-certified solar panel installers. When we say “we”, “us”, or “our” in this policy, we mean Solar Scott.

For data protection purposes, Solar Scott is the data controller for the personal information you provide through our website.

When you complete our quote request form, we collect:

Full name
Email address
Phone number (if provided)
Postcode
Property type (e.g. detached, semi-detached)
Property ownership status
Roof direction
Installation timeline
Solar interest (panels, battery, or both)
Additional project details (if provided)

3. How we use your data

We use your personal data to:

Match you with up to 3 MCS-certified solar installers in your area
Share your details with those installers so they can contact you about your solar quote
Contact you about your quote request via the channels you consented to
Improve our service and matching process

4. Lawful basis for processing

We process your personal data under the following lawful bases:

Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) — to collect and share your details with matched solar installers in order to fulfil your quote request. Our legitimate interest is in providing the matching service you have requested.
Consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR and PECR Regulation 22) — for electronic marketing communications sent to you by Solar Scott and our matched installers via email, SMS, and WhatsApp. You give this consent via the checkbox on our quote form.

5. Who we share your data with

We share your personal data with MCS-certified solar installation companies that we match you with (up to 3 installers per request). Once your data is shared, each installer becomes an independent data controller and is responsible for their own use of your data in accordance with their own privacy policy.

We do not sell your data to marketing companies, data brokers, or any other third parties. Your data is only shared with installers for the purpose of providing you with solar quotes.

6. How we contact you

We and our matched installers will only contact you via the channels you consent to on our quote form. These may include:

Your consent for electronic communications is given via the consent checkbox on our quote form. This consent is not pre-ticked — you must actively opt in. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us at hello@solarscott.co.uk.

7. Data retention

We retain your personal data for 6 months from the date of submission, after which it is securely deleted from our systems.

Installers we share your data with have their own data retention policies. Please refer to their individual privacy policies for details.

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights:
